I went drinkin' with Ari last night,
it was his last night in the states.
Every round was on the house,
every blunt was to the face.
'Cause come sunrise, he'd be headin' back,
back to a place they're callin' Zion.
To man a missle turret,
to shoot the enemies on the horizon.
But despite the years of training,
when we said our goodbyes,
the tears they started flowin'
and the fear was in his eyes.
And he said,
I don't know what I'm fightin' for,
but I know this is bigger than me.
And I know this is not my war,
but your birthright is you death warrant
when you come from the gaza streets.
I got a call from Ari last night,
seems he's doin' well.
Despite the shrapnel in his leg, he says,
at least he has his health.
Or should I say his life,
that is 'cause wounds will heal.
Except his friends who won't
walk off the battlefield.
Funerals will be held,
complete with medals and awards.
But Ari couldn't help it...
In Zion, why is there war?
And he said,
I don't know what I'm fightin' for,
but I know this is bigger than me.
And I know this is not my war,
but your birthright is you death warrant
when you come from the gaza streets.
